When choosing your contractor here is a check list SunShine Painting recommends you consider.
At SunShine Painting, we can say "Yes" to the following questions:
Did you receive a written estimate?
The scope of work should be clearly defined including areas to be finished, type of material, number of coats, and special surface preparation.
Has the company been in business 5 or more years?
Statistics indicate that most contracting failures occur with the first five years of operation. SunShine has been in business for over 35 years.
Is the contractor properly insured?
If the contactor is not adequately insured, you may face the risk of having to insure a potential accident at best, or at worst, you could be facing a lawsuit. This does not mean general liability alone - you should also see proof of Worker’s Compensation Insurance. Our insurance certificate is available upon request.
Is the contractor a member of the Painting and Decorating Contactors of America?
This national trade organization provides continuing education to keep its members abreast of new technology, safety regulations, and current standards for coating applications. Michael Day (president of SunShine Painting) is a National Board Member of the PDCA.
Is the job to be paid for only after substantial completion?
When a contractor requests partial payment before work begins, it is usually a sign of insufficient credit or undercapitalization. Either or both could lead to problems. We offer terms of net 30 days.
Is the contractor licensed?
All work performed by a contractor within the city of Grand Junction, by law requires a city license.
SunShine Painting's License is # 2041047
Were recent and long term references offered?
References will help you determine the contactor’s ability to perform. Check ours on the reference page.
